About Dr. LuElla D'Amico
LuElla D'Amico is Professor of English at the University of the Incarnate Word. Her scholarship and teaching focus on early and nineteenth-century American literature, children's literature, Christian women's writing, transatlanticism, and girlhood studies. She is the author of Wondrous Reading: Encountering the Catholic Faith in Children's Literature and the editor or co-editor of three scholarly collections on girls' literature and culture.

A contributing writer at The Dispatch, LuElla writes for public audiences about the Catholic faith, feminism, children's literature, education, popular culture, and American life. Her essays have also appeared in Church Life Journal, America, Busted Halo, Word on Fire, Christ and Pop Culture, and Front Porch Republic, among other venues.

A joyful Catholic convert, she lives with her husband, two children, and their rambunctious Chihuahua, Leroy, on the outskirts of San Antonio, Texas.
